Riddle’s Court

Located in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, Riddle’s Court is a romantic and historic setting with captivating painted ceilings, elegant rooms and intimate courtyards.

From the moment you enter from the Royal Mile the venue exudes character and charm, with a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere away from the bustle of city life. Their experienced team will work with you to bring your ideas to life, creating the style and atmosphere that is right for you.

Riddle’s Court is ideal for a wedding with a difference; it is a truly unique venue, making your celebration exceptional for both you and your guests. The historic rooms are the perfect choice for ceremonies, receptions, wedding breakfasts and even ceilidhs with a difference. Only a short walk from Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile Registry Office, they are perfectly positioned in the Old Town. Meanwhile, the King’s Chamber – their own onsite 16th century honeymoon suite, which hosted a banquet for King James VI of Scotland and Queen Anne of Denmark – is an ideal retreat for newlyweds.

Riddle’s Court can accommodate up to 70 people for a full seated ceremony and meal with the option of inviting additional evening guests (up to a total of 120). And they can also accommodate elements of the day if you choose to split your celebration across different venues.

A few of our favourite things about Riddle’s Court:
The location – it’s tucked away down a quaint close, a real hidden gem!
Being able to stroll together through the Old Town’s cobbled streets after tying the knot.
There are options for weddings of different sizes and the team are very accommodating.
The building had full disabled access (the disabled loo has a 16th century oven, discovered during renovations!).
It has been lovingly restored and the architectural features are incredible.
The 16th century honeymoon suite – historic and absolutely beautiful!
